Are any of you guys Q3 map makers, or aspiring to be one?  If I put some cash/prizes up would anyone be interesting in having a map contest?

Rules:
If anyone wants to start now, I'm thinking:
-the map should be able to hold at least 8 players (suitable for 4v4 TDM/CTF or 8 players FFA).  tournament (1v1) maps are acceptable as well (but will be held to the same quality levels as more complex TDM/CTF maps)
-doesn't necessarily have to support a specific gametype or mod, but you are welcome to specify one
-a majority of the map should be indoors, meaning: please no space maps
-the contest will be over 4-6 weeks after it starts
-sponsors permitting, special prizes will be given out at the 2-4 week mark to the map with the best layout so far
-map must be playable on Q3 1.16n.  don't worry though, most maps in 1.32 are compatible with 1.16n so don't let this affect you.
-map must contain sponsor images.  gotta show some thanks, right?
-map must be previously unreleased or a new design.  please no map remakes or edits.

Judging:
-will be done by a panel of very experienced players who are familiar with that map's chosen audience (ie: CPM map is judged by CPM players, CTF map is judged by CTF players, etc)
-judged on gameplay/design, overall looks, creativity, and layout

The sponsors have already requested if they could use the winning map(s) in future competitions!  That's pretty sweet; the winners are going to get their stuff played on quite a bit.

Good to see a bit of interest in this.  I'm going to contact some companies to see i they are interested in sponsorships.

I'd like to think you guys are all pretty serious about making some professional looking maps, right?

Anyone have any connections they can tap or ideas how to promote things?  More people in the contest means bigger prizes.  Spread the word.

|rps| will be a clan entry if that's acceptable. Kevin, aka Anthem, our "mapmaker", will submit the entry, but as a whole we will come up with it, that way we participate as a group and thus promoting the competition :)

Indeed.  I already posted on velocity micro (the major defrag community forums), and I have told several of my friends from defrag about this.  However, I'm not sure defrag players will want to participate.

This is a pretty good mappers community. I am an ammateur myself but for the sake of getting myself a new map-project I am gonna participate anyway. At that site were a good couple of pro's if I remember correctly.
